Work has been keepin' me down so I haven't been able to post much lately. Things are getting better though. I still haven't bought a Fusion yet but I got one picked out. I'm going to make time soon since my ride is about falling apart. Watching Duriel's video almost made me take the day off and hit the dealership.

NASCAR - Ford Fusion Wins at Daytona

I've been busy as hell with work but I saw this on the news:

When the field restarted Sadler led unchallenged until lap 59 when the caution came out for the No. 92 driven by Chad Chaffin who hit the wall. Under the caution as the cars came around they tried to dodge a huge piece of debris on the track which caused contact between several cars with Sterling Marlin and Dale Jarrett getting the worst of it.

That set up a green/white/checker finish. Sadler led on the restart at lap 63 with two laps to settle the event. In the end, no one had anything for the Yates power plant under the No. 38 Ford.

That locks Sadler into the second row for the Daytona 500.

"Man, this is a great feeling," said Sadler. "Tommy (Baldwin, crew chief) and the guys have been pumped up so much coming back down here. To get a win for M&M's is a great feeling. We were shut out last year and Tommy came on board and it gave us a new outlook on racing and new ideas about things. To get Ford Fusion's first win in NASCAR is great and something I will always remember."

I don't watch much racing but I will probably check out the Daytona 500. I might get a day off next week and be able to spend some time at the dealership looking at the car up close.

There were some phat ridez there but not many booth babes. I guess they don't roll those out down south which is pretty messed up if you ask me. This Shelby is the first car we saw. The whole damned car is chromed out.

Looks like I may be the last person to ever get my hands on a Fusion...but I'm tryin. Niels de Jong at The Clog-Files gets his next week:

It's got a black exterior and a tan interior with faux wood inlays. Looks really sharp. I could have driven it off the lot if I wanted to, but I'll take delivery early next week. I test-drove two versions, one with the 17" wheels and one with the 18" wheels. Both drive nice and firm and with the 18" wheels you hardly notice the lower tires and the overall stickiness improves over the already above-average handling (see various reviews). I like the 6-speed automatic to get quick accelaration if needed and nice low revs once on cruising speed.

Well I would have taken a Fusion for a test drive today but I'm watching my nephew. I'm doing the next best thing tho..we are trading off turns playing the Fusion game.

I may take Friday off and take Fusion for a spin. I also want to check out the Lincoln Zephyr and see if it looks as fine in person as it does in the pics.

I'm still all over this Ford Fusion game game since I can't get away from work long enough to test drive one. That and reading reviews but everyone is giving mad props to Ford for this car:

The Fusion gives notice, to customers and competitors alike, that Ford is once again ready to compete for midsize family sedan buyers. The last time Ford had a serious contender in this category it went by the name Taurus. That model even held the title "best-selling car in America" for a few years before being relegated to rental car status as superior offerings from Honda, Nissan and Toyota stole the sales spotlight.

But the Fusion -- riding on a lengthened, widened version of the highly acclaimed Mazda 6 platform -- has plenty going for it in this competitive market. Like the nimble Mazda 6, it rides on a four-wheel independent suspension and features a rack and pinion steering system. But unlike the Mazda 6, the Fusion provides passengers with adequate interior space by increasing both the length and width of the vehicle. Supplementing the cabin's space are upscale treatments like satin-finished bezels around the gauges and soft-touch material on the dash and door panels. Playing the Ford Fusion Game

Andy has put almost 500 miles on his new Fusion and has an update:

The Fusion handles very well and is much more nimble than I expected from a sedan of its size (coming to the Fusion from a Mazda MX-6). The speed-sensitive steering is set where it should be, allowing for easy lane changes or quick darts between vehicles when needed, while also ensuring that the car goes just where you aim with little effort even at low speed.

The Fusion's ride is better than my MX-6, with the independent suspension eating up most bumps with ease. You're going to know when you take a speed bump too fast or hit a pothole six inches deep, but - for the most part - the ride is gentle, mostly quieted from the annoyance of road- and wind-noise, and still communicative enough to let you know what's going on under the tires.

I still haven't had a chance to test drive one. Thought I would this weekend but other plans got in the way. I'll just have to keep playing with the Ford Fusion game for now. Next week tho...

I'm visitng a friend this weekend and he has a Ford dealership near his house. I didn't have time to test drive one but I wanted to check out the Ford Fusion in person. It's bigger and more comfortable than I expected. My pics don't do this car justice. It's fine.

In black it looks more like a Mercedes than a Ford.

Nice front end and low profile Michelins stock!

It may be my favorite color.

Only 20k sticker and 32mpg!!

I'll probably test drive one next weekend but I'm liking what I see so far.

My Ford Fusion

I did the build your own Fusion thing at the Ford site and picked the top of the line Fusion to start with. There wasn't much I could add, or needed to add, in the way of accessories. I'd rather add my own stereo and wheels anyway. I did add a moonroof and ABS but I think that's about it. They have some discounts this month but I don't know if I can buy that soon. It's a pretty good price though and you know I can get an American car maker talked down a bit. They always seem to discount more than Toyota and the others.

I also still need to take it for a test drive but I think it will be alright. All the reviews are good so far.
